How to Contour and Highlight- Video Tutorial

Contouring and highlighting  have changed my makeup life. A few years ago I didn’t even know about these techniques and how easily they can scalp my face, adding dimension right where I want it. Because both techniques are much better shown hands on, rather than being described, today I am bringing you a short video tutorial on how to contour and highlight your face using a few simple steps. Sit back, grab your bronzers, highlighters and brushes and enjoy the video!

Products used in the video:

  •  Mac Powder Blush in Taupe
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Incadescent Light
  • Sephora Pro Angled Contour Brush #75
  • Real Techniques Setting Brush

Do you contour or highlight or do both? What are your favorite highlighters and contouring products and tools? Your comments, as always, are greatly appreciated!

You’re so cute at the end of the video. I thought the name Agata was pronounced “aga-ta” and not “ahh..-gata” just like you pronounced it. Anyway, I want that mac blush in Taupe! It’s always OOS here!

Laarni, thank you so much, you made my day! And pronouncing my name can be tricky sometimes 🙂 I was born in Poland so it’s a Polish name.

I highly recommend Taupe, it’s a great shade, I hope you will be able to snatch it, I actually got mine when it was released with some LE collection without realizing it’s part of Mac’s permanent collection. Anyways, hope you have a great weekend!

Hey Agata, great tutorial! Taupe seems like a great contouring shade! When I contour, I use MAC 168 and mostly do it underneath my cheek bones. I do highlight more often, but mostly just on top of my cheek bones. With my oily T-zone, highlighters can quickly go wrong on my nose and forehead!

    • Agata Piestrak says:

Thank you Sunny. I get so many compliments on Taupe and it’s a perfect shade for people with lighter complexions like us. What’s your current favorite highlighter?

    • Agata Piestrak says:

Karen, thank you so much and thank you for stopping by my blog as well. What’s your current favorite highlighting and contouring product?

    • Agata Piestrak says:

Nausheen, thank you so much! I am glad the video was helpful as it was my intention. I find highlighting to be easier than contouring- but practice makes perfect and start with a light hand and add more product if needed. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and hope to see you back!

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I have heard so many good things about that Nars brush. I might have to indulge in it!
