Inspired By- Dior Tie Dye Summer Collection Makeup Look

Flawless, radiant looking skin, vibrant and mesmerizing eyes and pinkish-coral lips are Dior’s idea for a summer perfect look. A recently launched summer’15 Dior Tie Dye collection is all about “inspiring colors that swirl together under the sun to create a bright Tie Dye effect.” .

Dior Tye Die Summer 2015

Dior Tie Dye Summer 2015

Sun-kissed skin, aquatic blue eyeshadow and coral cheeks are definitely evocative of summer and they became the inspiration for today’s look. This particular look is special to me for another reason. Namely, me and Anne from Linda, Libra, Loca collaborated on this post to recreate the Dior’s summer 2015 promo image. She was nice enough to let me pick the picture we would work on and I was almost immediately drawn to the Dior one.

If you are unfamiliar with Anne’s blog (I can’t imagine that being the case though!), Anne has a reoccurring column called “Inspired By” where she recreates different seasonal makeup looks based on the promo images. She always does a fantastic job so I knew I had to step up my makeup game this time to keep up with her.

Tie Dye (2 of 9)To recreate the Dior Tie Dye look I not only examined the promo image closely but I also watched the tutorial on the “tie dye look” on Dior’s website. I started off with a sheer face base using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Foundation and I set it in with a little bit of the Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre loose powder.

Moving on to the cheeks! The promo image shows quite a lot of definition in that department although in the video the model has only a touch of coral blush applied to her cheeks. Since I am going for the promo image look, I contoured my cheeks gently using my trusty Mac Powder Blush in Taupe and then I swiped a peach coral blush to my cheeks, concentrating on the center of the cheekbones. Since the model’s skin looks really radiant I also used a highlighter to accentuate the bridge of the nose, my Cupid Bow and my forehead. tie dye face numbered

1. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in #02 Vanilla.
2. Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in shade #30.
3. Mac Powder Blush in Taupe.
4. Mac Powder Blush in Style.
5. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.

The eyes are a definite focus of this look. I started off by applying a peachy-beige eyeshadow all over the moveable part of my eyelid. Next, using a matte soft brown eyeshadow I added definition to my crease.Tie Dye (1 of 9) Lastly, I used a teal blue eyeshadow and applied it with an angled liner brush along my lashes. I also applied the same shade to the inner corners of my waterlines. For the lower eyelid, I went with the same peach shade that I used all over my lid and I added a little bit of a pale green shadow to the outer 2/3 of my lower eyelid. The eye look is completed by a few coats of a mascara.

3. Dr. Irena Eris eyeshadow duo- blue shade.

Lastly, for the lips I used a combination of a pink and coral lipsticks. I used Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Obsessed and then added a touch of Maybelline’s Color Sensational lipstick in Coral Burst on top. Tie Dye (4 of 9)

This beautiful summery look is complete with a sunny yellow nail polish. For my nails I used a Fresh Paint polish in the shade Alex’s Lemonade (purchased at 5 Below).

I absolutely love this Dior Tie Dye promo look. It has everything that screams summer to me- glowing, sun-kissed skin, blonde hair, aqua blue shades that remind of the ocean and a peach yellow shade that makes me think of warm beach sand. Although posing for the photo was a bit challenging, I had a lot of fun recreating it and I hope to collaborate with Linda, Libra, Loca in the future again. For now, don’t forget to check out her take on this look!

What do you think of the Dior’s Tie Dye promo image? Would you wear such colors? Have you picked anything from this collection? I am not sure how but I have resisted buying any products as of yet although these gorgeous blushes make the temptation so much bigger!

  1. Audrey says:

Oh my goodness, Agata! This recreation is spot on–every little detail from the promo image is present in your own! I can only imagine that this took quite some time. I also love how that blue liner brings out the blue in your eyes. On a different note, how do you like MAC’s Style? I’ve heard very conflicting things about it. Does it emphasize pores?

    • Agata says:

Hi Audrey, thank you so much. You’re the second person who says it about my eyes- I guess I should wear teal blue more often!

I bought Style after Karen’s recommendation and it’s a beautiful color. It’s peachy but has a golden sheen to it. Honestly, I have never noticed it emphasizing my pores but I have never really paid attention. Next time I wear it I will make sure to check and report back to you!

Have you got anything from the Tie Dye collection? Any other summer collections that caught your eye?

    • Agata says:

Hi Candace, give it a try and let me know how it works out for you! I think the teal blue shadow accentuates the color of my eyes more but I do like that.

Are you a fan of teal on your eyes?

  2. Linda Libra Loca says:

Agata, you look so pretty and comfortable posing in front of he camera, maybe you should quit what you are doing now and start modeling?
I am so proud you agreed on a collaboration, and I will be looking forward to more of these in the future!

    • Agata says:

It was my pleasure and I really had a lot of fun recreating it. Finding the tie dye umbrella was the biggest challenge! And I think I will stick to my interpreting job 😛

  3. Jenny says:

You and Anne both did SUCH a great job at recreating this. Your all’s isn’t photoshopped like the original photo, so it makes your interpretations even better, because you are showing real beauty. You all did great!

    • Agata says:

Hi Jenny, thank you sweet lady! It was a bit challenging because the model face has a really hard light shed on her, yet her skin looks flawless and it’s obvious it’s highly photoshoped. So recreating the same look and getting past my skin imperfections was difficult! But it was definitely fun!

Do you ever wear teal shades on your eyes?

    • Agata says:

Thank you!! And I bet you could pull it off. Believe it or not it’s the first time I have worn teal on my eyes- that’s why I had to use an eyeshadow, I don’t even have a teal eyeliner!

Do you wear more colors in the summer or do you still stick to your favorite neutrals?

  4. howdoesdeedoit says:

Love this look on you Agata!! I love teal eye liner on everyone else and have at least 6 teal liners but rarely do I use any of them lol. evryones all over Diors tie-and -dye collection!! I don’t plan to buy anything frm the collection but do appreciate the beautiful products! how’s the bareminerals tinted gel btw?

    • Agata says:

Hi Dee, I don’t have even one teal eyeliner, I am not a huge fan of that shade and I am surprised it actually looks ok on me.

The Bare Minerals Complexion rescue is great, it’s the first sheer base product that I fell in love with, it provides just the right amount of coverage! (Review is coming, I swear, lol).

    • Agata says:

Thank you, Kristen! I don’t wear teal blue very often but maybe I should start!

The blushes are really pretty, fortunately I haven’t seen them in person because if I did, I doubt I would walk away from them…

  5. Lulle says:

What a fun challenge! The look turned out amazing on you, it’s very flattering and your picture is awesome. I like that you found the perfect tie-dye umbrella too, lol!

  6. Sunny says:

Great job, Agata! For a second I was confused because I was like… wait…. am I on the right blog? And then I realized you guys are doing a collab! So cool! I love your interpretation of the look. You’re all bronzy and happy!

    • Agata says:

Hi Sunny, ha ha. I guess I was jealous of Anne’s idea and we came up with an idea of doing something together 🙂 It was so much fun! You could probably recreate this look even better since you have pieces from this collection. My husband was actually surprised I don’t have anything from the Tie Dye collection….I almost fell like he was talking me into getting something, lol!

  7. Sara@ColorMeLoud says:

Love the idea and the execution. Where did you find that thing on your back, it looks almost identical to the promo image. You look stunning with the blue liner. I wish I could wear it as good as you do!

    • Agata says:

Hi Sara, it’s actually an umbrella too! It was really hard to find a tie dye umbrella but I managed to find a place online that sells them and I really wanted one that looked similar.

This blue leans more towards teal and honestly, I never wear teal but I kind of like it actually so I will wear it more often in the summer!

  8. Lisa @ Midwest Glam says:

You know, I never thought to recreate a promo image. That’s some pretty impressive stuff right there. And you did a good job! So creative!

I actually got one item from this collection and that’s one of the blushes. It’s gorgeous!

    • Agata says:

Hi Lisa, thank you so much! I think promo images are an excellent inspiration although you cannot expect to like like the model since these images are always so highly photoshoped!

Ohh the tie dye blushes…You got the pink one, right? Do you think it’s worth the price?

  9. Laarni says:

OMIGOD THIS IS SOOO GOOD! And I am a fan of Anne’s Inspired By Series! You look awesome and sexy! You pulled it off, Agata! I am so jealous I wanna join the next collab haha but IDK if I can do it lolz.

This entry makes me so happy!!! YAY!

    • Agata says:

Hi Tracy, thank you so much! I know what you mean about getting into a makeup rut! That’s why I love Pintrest and Instagram- there is so much inspiration there!

  10. neversaydiebeauty says:

Extremely well done, Agata!! I love your inspiration and the photo you took of your look with the tie-dye shirt. Brilliant. And teal liner and shimmer shadow really suits you, perfect for summer!

    • Agata says:

The look is definitely summer perfect, kudos to Dior for that! The “shirt” is actually an umbrella, I was so excited to find a similar one to that in the promo picture! I have never worn teal liner before, it’s my first time but after so many compliments from all of you guys I think I need to wear it more often!

  11. NatasjaEPB says:

Yes yes! I loved it when I first saw this picture on twitter.. It has taken me forever to reply.. my apologies (thesis & exams). I think you did an amazing job. Both the model and you make the beauty look seem very wearable! It is so soft on both of you.. despite using a bold and bright color on the eyes! Love it. 😀 You model!

  12. Jaa says:

You even have a tie-dye umbrella to complete the look! This is awesome work, Agata! Your looks is spot on, and so is Anne’s! 😀
