Flawless, radiant looking skin, vibrant and mesmerizing eyes and pinkish-coral lips are Dior’s idea for a summer perfect look. A recently launched summer’15 Dior Tie Dye collection is all about “inspiring colors that swirl together under the sun to create a bright Tie Dye effect.” .
Sun-kissed skin, aquatic blue eyeshadow and coral cheeks are definitely evocative of summer and they became the inspiration for today’s look. This particular look is special to me for another reason. Namely, me and Anne from Linda, Libra, Loca collaborated on this post to recreate the Dior’s summer 2015 promo image. She was nice enough to let me pick the picture we would work on and I was almost immediately drawn to the Dior one.
If you are unfamiliar with Anne’s blog (I can’t imagine that being the case though!), Anne has a reoccurring column called “Inspired By” where she recreates different seasonal makeup looks based on the promo images. She always does a fantastic job so I knew I had to step up my makeup game this time to keep up with her.
To recreate the Dior Tie Dye look I not only examined the promo image closely but I also watched the tutorial on the “tie dye look” on Dior’s website. I started off with a sheer face base using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Foundation and I set it in with a little bit of the Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre loose powder.
Moving on to the cheeks! The promo image shows quite a lot of definition in that department although in the video the model has only a touch of coral blush applied to her cheeks. Since I am going for the promo image look, I contoured my cheeks gently using my trusty Mac Powder Blush in Taupe and then I swiped a peach coral blush to my cheeks, concentrating on the center of the cheekbones. Since the model’s skin looks really radiant I also used a highlighter to accentuate the bridge of the nose, my Cupid Bow and my forehead.

2. Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre in shade #30.

4. Mac Powder Blush in Style.
5. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal.
The eyes are a definite focus of this look. I started off by applying a peachy-beige eyeshadow all over the moveable part of my eyelid. Next, using a matte soft brown eyeshadow I added definition to my crease. Lastly, I used a teal blue eyeshadow and applied it with an angled liner brush along my lashes. I also applied the same shade to the inner corners of my waterlines. For the lower eyelid, I went with the same peach shade that I used all over my lid and I added a little bit of a pale green shadow to the outer 2/3 of my lower eyelid. The eye look is completed by a few coats of a mascara.
1. Urban Decay 15 Anniversary Palette shade Flow.
2. Lorac Cosmetics Alter Ego Heartbreaker palette (brown matte, light green shade).
3. Dr. Irena Eris eyeshadow duo- blue shade.
4. Lorac Behind The Scenes eyeshadow primer.
5. Maybelline The Falsies Volum’ Express waterproof mascara.
Lastly, for the lips I used a combination of a pink and coral lipsticks. I used Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Obsessed and then added a touch of Maybelline’s Color Sensational lipstick in Coral Burst on top.
This beautiful summery look is complete with a sunny yellow nail polish. For my nails I used a Fresh Paint polish in the shade Alex’s Lemonade (purchased at 5 Below).
I absolutely love this Dior Tie Dye promo look. It has everything that screams summer to me- glowing, sun-kissed skin, blonde hair, aqua blue shades that remind of the ocean and a peach yellow shade that makes me think of warm beach sand. Although posing for the photo was a bit challenging, I had a lot of fun recreating it and I hope to collaborate with Linda, Libra, Loca in the future again. For now, don’t forget to check out her take on this look!
What do you think of the Dior’s Tie Dye promo image? Would you wear such colors? Have you picked anything from this collection? I am not sure how but I have resisted buying any products as of yet although these gorgeous blushes make the temptation so much bigger!
