Makeup Revolution London- Affirmation Ultra Eyeshadow Palette Review

During one of my most recent visits to Ulta I spotted a brand new display of Makeup Revolution London cosmetics. What grabbed my attention was a wide variety of products, from foundations, blushes, contouring kits, eyeshadow palettes to lip products and glosses. Everything at extremely affordable prices!

As an eyeshadow palette addict I decided to bring one home with me. After a long consideration, I purchased a 32 pan Ultra Eyeshadow palette called Affirmation. The palette was $15 but with my $3.50 off coupon, I spent only $12.50. Sounds like a deal for that many eyeshadows, right?

Was it a good deal indeed or is the palette a case of “you get what you pay for?” Keep reading to find out!

Before I share my thoughts on the palette itself, a few words about the Makeup Revolution London Brand. It’s a London based company that launched in 2014. Their mission is to offer professional quality makeup products, with shades for every skin tone that are cruelty free and affordable. You can check out their Makeup Revolution London (they offer international shipping), but for an easier access go to Ulta or!

Back to the palette. The Affirmation Palette that I picked is a selection of 32 eyeshadows, beige highlighting shades, nudes, rose toned pinks, cool purples and smokey greys. Basically, all you need to create a simple daytime look and a hot smokey eye for the night. And yes, it does remind me of Urban Decay Naked palettes. IMG_2399

The eyeshadows are housed in a black glossy compact with gold letters on the front and a big mirror on the inside. IMG_2400

In the palette there are 12 matte eyeshadows and the remaining 24 have a shimmery finish. The matte eyeshadows have a buttery  texture that reminds me of Lorac matte eyeshadows. They are less pigmented than the shimmery shades and you do need to reapply the color a few times to achieve good pigmentation. However, they do not create any fallout, which is always a plus!

The shimmery shades are my favorite. The pigmentation is mostly really good and 2 or 3 swipes are enough to achieve full opacity. They feel soft and again, create no fallout. Makeup Revolution Affirmation Palette

In terms of longevity, I didn’t have high hopes. I have to admit I love higher end eyeshadows because of how long they last and because I don’t need to reapply them throughout the day. With the Makeup Revolution London palette, I wore all the eyeshadows using an eye primer like I always do, and I am happy to report that they last pretty damn long. They do not crease and I noticed only slight fading after about 6 hours of wear. Not bad for the price!

All in all, I bought the Affirmation palette because of curiosity and because I was attracted to all the pretty shades. For the price of $15 for 32 eyeshadows I did not expect high quality but I was pleasantly surprised. All the eyeshadows are easy to work with, offer decent pigmentation and last a long time before fading a bit. The shades are not the most unique in terms of color and if you already have a lot of eyeshadow palettes you can probably find a lot of dupes. However, it’s nice to have all the shades in one place and with so many colors to play with, the sky is the limit in terms of various shade combinations. If you don’t have a lot of eyeshadows, I’d highly recommend getting it. It would make a good travel palette too!

Lastly, I will leave you with a smokey eye look I created using this palette.  IMG_2422I highlighted my under brow area with shade #1. Next, I put shade #2 in the crease of my eye and #3 to deepen the crease, blending the two together really well.  wpid-imag9406_21-575x1024With dark plum shade #4 I intensified the crease yet again, applying the same shade to my lower eyelid. Finally I used shade #6 all over the movable part of my eyelid. wpid-imag9410-576x1024

What do you think of the Makeup Revolution London Affirmation palette? Have you tried any products from this brand yet? If so, please share your recommendations because I am ready to go back to Ulta to pick up a few more products! I think I am going to check out the Ultra Cream Contouring Palette next!

Hi Caroline, do you have Makeup Revolution in Italy? If not, shipping within Europe seems to be really affordable on their website! And shade #4 is one of my favorites!

Hm, I also have not tried anything from this brand before. I don’t find the palette very appealing to be honest. There are loads of colors in there (plus) but I get the idea that they probably wouldn’t work well on my skin tone. I like the darkest colors the most, because those are very intense 🙂 and I do think you can really play with this palette! Your first look is gorgeous already 😀 I love that bit of dark plum in there!

    • Agata says:

Thanks Natasja. The darker colors in the palette are really stunning and I think they’d def work for your skin tone too! Not that I needed another eyeshadow palette but I am really glad I actually got it.

    • Agata says:

Thanks Shireen! The funny thing is that I created this look and had nowhere to go, lol. Story of my life! I put on my makeup just to take pictures. Maybe soon the brand will make its way to Canada, it’s a fairly new company anyways.

I haven’t had a chance to try the brand yet, but their prices are really good! The makeup you created with this palette is beautiful, the shadows really work for an intense look!

  3. LindaLibraLoca says:

I actually got a palette from them as a gift earlier this year, one of those that are said to be dupes for the Naked palettes, and I have been using it all month to get a feeling for it.
So far I have to say I really like it for an everyday eye, but struggle in achieving more intense looks without the shadow going patchy.
But we need more time to gather, the palette and I, before I´ll give you my final verdict.

I saw the skinny palettes that are supposed to be dupes for Naked palettes but since I own all three Naked palettes, I went for this one. I am really happy with it, especially since I didn’t expect much! Definitely going to try more of their products!

I think you look stunning! So, so pretty & the pigmentation on the deeper shades seems pretty good. I’ve heard a lot of buzz about this brand. Never tried any products from them but I may take a look at them during a trip to Ulta next week. Good job ☺️

      • kwmechelle says:

TOTALLY too distracted by the loose powder, lol. I did look for MUR but the location where I was didn’t have them. Or at least I didn’t find it. But I was in Ulta so long that I made myself leave so I wouldn’t find anything else that I “needed”!

  5. Laarni says:

First of all, you look so damn sexy right now, Agata! (in a non-creepy way, okay? hehe) Anyway, it’s my first time to hear about this brand. Seems like a very promising palette. I thought it was from UD when I read the word, Revolution.

    Lastly, IMY!!!

    • Agata says:

Hi Laarni. You don’t sound creepy at all, it’s always nice to hear such words from another girl :)I am definitely going to look more into the brand!

I miss you too!!! Hope everything is fine!

I really wish we had an Ulta in Canada, I always hear such good things! This palette looks great judging by the swatches, I especially love that burnt orange in the last swatch. So pretty!

    • Agata says:

Thank you! I love statement necklaces, this one is from Target!

Thank you for the nomination! 🙂 I did a similar thing in the past, with slightly different questions but I will try to do it!
