5 Things I Have Been Loving Lately

Hi lovelies,

How have you been? Recently I have been stuck in a little bit of a makeup rut, wearing the same looks over and over again, using the same products. It’s not necessarily a bad thing because this way I discovered a few products that I love at the moment and use every day. Today I am going to talk about these beauties and share my thoughts.

wpid-imag9536_1.jpgFirst up, is Mac Cosmetics Prep+Prime Fix+ in Coconut. I picked it up a few months ago when Mac released 5 different scents of this cult favorite and it is my first bottle of this product. It can be used in many different ways and that’s what I love the most about it. It works as a primer, sprayed onto your face before putting on any makeup, it feels really refreshing on the skin and provides a good dose of moisture. It can also be used as a setting spray after your makeup is done.

wpid-imag9529_2.jpgHowever, my favorite way to use it is for intensifying my highlighter. I spray a little bit of Mac Prep+Prime Fix+ onto my highlighting brush, then dab it in my powder highlighter and apply it to my cheeks. This way the highlighter appears more intense but at the same time it sinks seamlessly into the skin.

Also, a great way to use it is to spray a little bit of the product onto a liner brush, dab it into an eyeshadow to create your custom eyeliner. Once again, Prep+Prime Fix+ intensifies the look of the eyeshadow but isn’t as harsh looking as a gel liner.

Speaking of eyeshadows, Urban Decay’s Riff  has been my jam lately. It’s a gorgeous matte soft brown shade that has a little bit of tiny sparkles. It is a perfect crease shade, it applies and blends really smoothly. wpid-wp-1446656497421.jpegwpid-imag9537_1.jpg

The third product that I discovered only a few days ago but I already can’t be without is ItCosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Micro-powder. It’s a loose, translucent powder. I bought it after I ran out of my Urban Decay Naked Loose Powder and I wanted to try something new. I use Bye Bye Pores HD Micro-Powder as a finishing powder. I love that it has no color so there is no risk of over applying it and it does conceal pores, without setting into the fine lines. It’s supposed to absorb excess oil and keep your complexion shine free throughout the day. And it really does. After I apply the powder in the morning, there is no need to reapply it throughout the day. Even my T-zone (which normally is the only place that gets shiny) stays completely matte. wpid-wp-1446656487565.jpeg

Lastly, two new products from Maybelline- a mascara and a brow gel. The latest mascara from Maybelline is called The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara.  I really like its long silicone brush with “push up cups” as it delivers the product evenly to my lashes creating instant volume, length and lift. The mascara is really glossy, which results in dramatic looking lashes, which I personally love. It might not beat my all time favorite Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies mascara but it comes as a close second. wpid-wp-1446656566643.jpeg

The last product I have been loving is Maybelline’s Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara.  wpid-wp-1446656575409.jpegI purchased it when looking for a brow product that would look more natural than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. It’s a tinted brow gel that provides just a perfect, very natural color to my brows while setting them in place. The mascara has a ball-ended brush, which you use to sculpt your brows in an upward motion. Although the brush looks a little scary, it’s actually really easy to use. I really like reaching for The Brow Drama Brow Mascara for my every day looks. If you’re looking for dramatic, drawn on eyebrows, it might not be a product for you. wpid-imag9526.jpg

I really love all of these 5 products and they have become staples in my every day makeup and I highly recommend them. Have you tried any of these products? What are some beauty bits that you have been loving lately?

I’d love to try every single one of these!!! The IT Cosmetics powder sounds amazing, I wish I had access to it. Brow gel is the brow product I use the most, but I’ve never tried the Maybelline one (I’m currently using Collistar’s, which I really like).
Lately, I’ve been loving my Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette (as you already know) and Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation.

The It Cosmetics powder has been on my radar for a while, I almost bought it a few weeks ago but I got bareMinerals Mineral Veil instead (because of a sale) – not sure yet if I really love it, it doesn’t seem to be as good as expected to control shine.
And I really want to try that new mascara, all the reviews I’ve seen are really positive and for the price it’s well worth trying!

Did you get the pressed Mineral Veil? I was actually looking at getting it too but when I swatched it it felt really chalky so I didn’t end up getting up. I am really impressed with the Bye Bye Pores though.

And yes, try this mascara, it’s a big hit in my books!

I haven’t used anything you mentioned, but I will get myself a Maybelline mascara to test, once I am through the six (yes, six, I recently counted) I still have lined up for testing…

You know I love my Maybelline mascaras! Try either this one or if you’re fine with a curved brush- the regular Falsies. 6 mascaras, huh? I think you have a problem my dear! Which ones are you testing?

Hi Chris, I think Riff would suit you really well! I love that it’s matte but has tiny little sparkles hidden in it. Have you tried any Urban Decay eyeshadows?

Hi Agata! Fascinating. I’ve read about the Mac Cosmetics Prep+Prime Fix+ before and it sounds pretty interesting. I might just eventually give this ago. I like that you use this for your highlighter. Any chance you could do a before/after shot? I’d love to see the results 😀

Sure! I will try to show the difference. It is usually hard to capture the highlight on the camera but I will see what I can do! You should try Fix+ though, it’s really good and it’s quite affordable for how much product you get and a little bit goes a long way too so I am sure the bottle will last me quite a while!

I’m finding myself in the same rut as well, using the same products for the same looks over and over again. I’m attempting to try new things or even older makeup products that I haven’t used in a while, but it’s a work in progress haha. I love Maybelline mascaras, although I haven’t tried the two you mentioned. Quite a few people recommended the Maybelline Lash Sensational though, so that might be one to check out. Lovely post! 🙂 xx
