I will admit that when it comes to makeup I am a little bit of a snob and I tend to favor high end beauty brands and I believe that when it comes to cosmetics you usually get what you pay for in terms of quality, product longevity, use of application or pigmentation. Having said that, there is still a few products that are always in my makeup bag, that I have repurchased over and over again, that come from a drugstore and I use them on daily basis.

Top Drugstore Products (1 of 6)In today’s post I am going to introduce you to my Top5 Drugstore products that I love and that I always use and rave about.
First up, foundation. I feel like finding the right foundation is like hitting a jackpot, it’s the most important part of creating a flawless look, preparing your “canvas”- your face for other products. My go to foundation for years has been Revlon ColorStay foundation ( I use color natural Beige 220). Retailing for about $10-12 it’s a gem in the realms of drugstore makeup. It provides full coverage, covers redness, dark spots and pimples, it doesn’t look cakey and it blends with my skin very well. The biggest deal about this product is the fact that it stays on your skin throughout the whole day, it withstands heat and sweat. It also comes in two variations- one for Normal/Dry Skin and the other one for Combination/Oily skin. I normally use the one for normal skin and I usually apply it just with my fingers and I set it with a setting pressed powder.

Top Drugstore ProductsThat brings me to my second favorite drugstore product which is Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.┬áIt costs less than $5 and I honestly cannot believe how great it works. That powder is supposed to finish your look, blur large pores, absorb oil and provide a shine- free look and I can honestly say that it does all that. I apply it on top of my foundation with a large powder brush using a Transparent shade (001) and it ensures that my makeup is not going anywhere and it stays put. If your skin is more oily and it tends to get shiny a few hours into your day, I find this powder to be excellent for touch ups as well and since it’s transparent it’s not going to add any additional color to your face, it will just airbrush your look and mattify your skin.

The third product on my list of holy grail drugstore products is a Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara. If I could buy only one product till the end of my life, this would be it! I have not been born with very long, thick or curly lashes, that’s why I always need to rely on my mascara to do those things for me. The Falsies is great for creating dramatic, full, thick lashes, it holds curl very well, it doesn’t clump.

Top Drugstore Products (3 of 6) It comes with a flexible curved silicone brush, which is great for getting into the very corners of your lashes as well as separating them and adding luscious volume. It retails for about $8 and I since my eyes are quite sensitive and watery I always use a waterproof version.

Number four is reserved for a lip product. In the last few months I have become absolutely obsessed with lipsticks, lip glosses and any product that will add color to your lips. Adding some color to your put is a fantastic and super fast way of changing or upgrading your look and ensuring you look polished and put together. My top pick for a drugstore lip product is a Revlon ColorStay Just Bitten Balm Stain ($8-10) This lippie comes in a form of a small chubby crayon that is retractable so you never need to sharpen it, which is extremely convenient.

Top Drugstore Products (4 of 6)Chubby crayons have become extremely popular in the last few years and every brand has at least one product like that. It’s not really a lipstick, it’s not a lipgloss, Revlon describes it as a lip balm that adds a stain of color to your lips while providing smooth, soft lips. The product feels really comfortable on my lips, it adds a lot of moisture, doesn’t accentuate dryness but it still adds enough color to finish your look. It comes in a variety of shades and recently Revlon has released two new versions of that stain- a matte one and a lacquer for extreme shine. My favorite shade is Sweetheart, which is a pretty muted pink color. As long as I don’t eat or drink the stain stays on my lips for 2-3 hours. Here are swatches of a few other shades.

Top Drugstore Products (5 of 6)Last, but not least, a skin care product that I discovered right after it was released at the end of 2013 and I fell in love immediately after the first use. It’s a Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil. Cleansing Oils have become quite the rave in the beauty world recently because of their multitasking qualities. Since I always use a waterproof mascara I have a hard time finding a make up remover that would do a good job removing my mascara at the end of the day without having to scrub my eyes. This oil literally dissolves your make up within seconds, it gets rid of skin impurities and since it’s rich in Jojoba and Macadamia Oil it also nourishes and hydrates your skin, leaving it feel extremely clean, fresh and surprisingly non- greasy. This oil costs only about $7 and it’s that good that I feel like buying 10 bottles for back ups in case Garnier ever decides to discontinue this product.

So here they are, my Top5 Drugstore products that I absolutely love and couldn’t live without. I hope you find those mini reviews helpful and next time you’re in the market for a new product, you will reach for one of the ones I recommended. Do you have any drugstore holy grail products that you always repurchase and swear by? Let me know in comments below and thanks for stopping by.
